Geothermal energy

The only independent energy source

Geothermal energy is experiencing a surge in popularity all over the world. Of all renewable energies, it holds a unique position. It is the only non-solar power source that is always available regardless of the time of day, climate or weather conditions.

Warm and eco-friendly

Generated in the Earth’s core, geothermal energy makes its way to the surface before disappearing into space. According to the German Geothermal Association (Bundesverband Geothermie), enough energy is released to cover the world’s energy needs several times over.

Private households and public facilities are becoming increasingly interested in eco-friendly alternatives to gas and oil heating – our alternative is the heat pump. The range of advantages includes high efficacy, low operating costs, simple installation and reliability. Our systems can be incorporated into existing heating systems or used on their own to generate heat – regardless of whether it is in older, newer or renovated buildings.

New market incentive programme

The Federal Ministry for the Environment announced and launched the new market incentiveprogramme (MIP) in March 2011. New funding policies have simplified the programme and increased heat pump funding. The state will continue to subsidise just those systems used for providingheating and warm water in existing buildings that already have a heating system. New buildings do not receive MIP funding.

To receive heat pump funding, you need to apply for it within six months following operational readiness. The application must include proof of the annual performance factor and the calculation, specialised company declaration and proof of the living and usable space. Once you have compiled all the necessary documents and have received a positive response, you can look forward to a generous amount of investment assistance.

A heat pump boom

Near-surface geothermal energy made a name for itself long ago. According to the German Geothermal Association (Bundesverband Geothermie), approximately 6% of all new buildings were equipped with geothermal energy systems last year. The German Geothermal Association press release explains that “Compared to 2005, the industry has experienced growth of 115%. That is by far the biggest increase of all renewable energy sources and, at the same time, only the beginning: over the next five years, some two million geothermal heat pumps will be installed in Europe.”
